Wireless laser sensor RF LDS-NET

With wireless laser sensors for longer distances, random objects can be detected independently of their colour, material or surface, facilitating non-contact monitoring. This particularly makes sense for large load carriers (LLC), pallets or other sizeable means of transporting goods. The optical sensors provide reliable detection without being inside work areas, thus avoiding damage through collisions with shop floor vehicles, for example.

The sensor is integrated in the overall system via the RF 96 BU radio module. Up to four laser sensors can be connected to a single radio module thanks to a Y-cable. This enables, for example, the filling level of adjacent load carriers to be measured. Using the Y-adapter, installation can be in the shape of a star or as a bus system arrangement with several laser sensors in series.

The RF LDS-SPOT is conventionally mounted above field level. This protects the sensor from damage and at the same time prevents it from being a source of interference for humans or machines. Detection is by light impulse measurement (“optical time of flight”) and can be parameterised via the Sensor Bridge for a distance of up to 10 m.

The wireless sensor is installed using a universal clamp permitting flexible mounting and precise positioning – regardless of whether it is located under the ceiling, on a side wall or elsewhere.
